My name is Sharon Mosi, the first born in a family of four, raised in the midst of Kibera slum in Nairobi. I am currently an undergraduate in Bachelor of Education in Arts at Kisii University. My dreams came to life when my mother, Teresa Adhiambo (now late), was introduced to Nelly Kagoru, founder of Dream of a Child Foundation, during meetings empowering women in the slums with a group called Women of Peace.
I attained 375 marks in my K.C.P.E and was called to join State House Girls High School. Due to hard financial times, my parents were unable to raise my fees. Nelly took me in the foundation and walked with me until the completion of my high school level. She has been a counselor, confidant, and most of all, a friend who has walked with me throughout these years to help me attain my dreams of becoming a better person and making my community a better place to be in.
Dream of a Child Foundation has helped me, among others in Kibera slums, and brought a smile to their faces. It has offered food, clothing, education, and guidance that will enable them to better their future.
I am thankful for this foundation for helping me achieve my dreams, and my prayer is that Dream of a Child Foundation will reach more children in the slum and beyond and work with them as it did with me.
